  • Dr. Ashley Cooksey is an Assistant Professor and Program Director for the School Library Media programs at ֱ, where she specializes in school librarianship and library media services, Universal Design for Learning, digital citizenship and media literacy, and technology-enhanced teaching and learning. After earning her bachelor's and master's degrees from ֱ, Dr. Cooksey completed her Ph.D. in Change Leadership with an emphasis in Digital Age Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Arkansas in 2025. Her dissertation, Examining The Multifaceted Roles Of School Librarian Leadership: A Phenomenological Study Of School Librarians’ Lived Experiences In Inclusive Leadership explored school librarians' first-person perspectives, emotional responses, embodied realities, and meaning-making processes as they enact leadership within complex and often constraining educational environments. A passionate advocate for ensuring all students have access to qualified school librarians, Dr. Cooksey brings extensive K-12 experience to her work in higher education. She served as past president of the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media and has received multiple state and national awards, including the AASL Social Media Superstar Award. Dr. Cooksey is also a 200-hour registered yoga teacher, bringing a holistic approach to educator wellness and stress management. She currently facilitates the ISTE-U Future Ready Librarianship course and teaches an open educational course for school librarians worldwide.
