Membership

Membership will consist of a maximum of nine individuals representing academic programs from each college, including a member from the supernumerary voting block. Members will serve three-year staggered terms. College Deans will nominate potential members to the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost for final approval. Committee members will be selected based on their expertise and training in assessment practices. The committee will elect a faculty chair every two years at the first fall meeting and a secretary annually from among its members. 

Function

The Student Learning Assessment Committee is charged with promoting and facilitating continuous improvement in student learning by overseeing program assessment and evaluation. 

 

Duties

The Student Learning Assessment Committee will:

  1. Provide guidance and support to academic programs and units on assessment practices, including annual outcomes assessment, program review, and general education assessment. 
  2. Review and analyze annual academic assessment reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  3. Collaborate with academic units to develop and implement effective assessment strategies.
  4. Make recommendations to leadership on policies, procedures, and resource allocation to support assessment and improve student learning.
  5. Stay informed about current best practices in assessment and evaluation, and share knowledge with the campus community.
  6. Foster a campus culture of assessment by creating opportunities for discussion, training, and collaboration.
